We are going to our park to deliver the court decision by hand, which cancels the project aimed to disidentify, depopulate and concretize Gezi Park, to the ones who shut the park down to the people. We are going to our park to open its doors to its real owners, so to everyone again.

With all the colors that make us who we are, with unwavering common sense, endurance, determination and incredible creativity, we are still together in every sphere of life.

We have not given up on our demands and gains and we will never do so.

To commemorate our losses, to remind our demands and to condemn the violence that is yet to exist in the entire Turkey, we meet on Saturday (July, 6) at 7 PM in Taksim Square with justified decision of the court in our hands.

Today is 29 June 2013. For approximately a month, we have been calling out from all corners of our country, from our squares, our parks, our homes, our rooms, our syndicates, our parties, our villages; in short, wherever we are.

BUT NOW, WE ARE NOT ONLY CALLING OUT FROM ISTANBUL, ANKARA, MERSİN OR İZMİR BUT FROM ALL ACROSS THE WORLD AND FROM LİCE.

We are all aware of the attempts being made to legitimize the unbelievable violence of law enforcement officers. We are faced with the fact that our friends who are expressing their constitutional rights are detained, arrested or missing, while those who committed crimes, with clear evidence pointing to them, are released. If those responsible for this violence think they can evade their responsibilities by “acquitting” the officers who carried out their illegal orders, they need to know that they are mistaken.

Abdullah Cömert, Mehmet Ayvalıtaş, and Ethem Sarısülük, who took to the streets for a more free and equal world, were victims of a brutality, hatred, and violence not even seen in times of war. With the violence during Ethem Sarısülük’s funeral still fresh in our memories, we have learned that the Riot Police officer who caused Ethem’s death at the prime of his life was released.

On 1 June, during the first week of the Gezi Park resistance, our proletarian friend Ethem Sarısülük was wounded in the head by a bullet fired from a police officer’s gun in Ankara’s Kızılay Square, in front of the whole world and cameras, while resisting for his rights and for his friends.

Ethem had neither helmet, vest nor gun. Ethem was there with us, his friends, peacefully claiming his rights. Labelling the violence carried out by police officers as self-defense is unacceptable.

We have all seen this brutality and the injustice that followed it, we are all witnesses. No investigations on the killers of Abdullah Cömert and Mehmet Ayvalıtaş, who lost their lives during the Gezi resistance,  have been started.

In this process when we expressed our demands to life, we have lost 5 of our lives, including one police officers, 11 people lost an eye, 1 person lost a spleen, 60 people were wounded heavily and two of them continue to be in critical condition, 103 people had head traumas,  8041 people were wounded, and 1 person lost his life after a heart attack caused by an intense tear gas attack. Though the government must work towards revealing and trying all those responsible for this violence, they instead try to suppress those who could not be silenced for days of police brutality through detainments and arrests.

The moment we decided to meet in Taksim to shout out our demands of justice in light of the fact that Ethem’s killers were released, we witnessed another cruel and unbelievable violence by the government.

Our fellow countrymen in Lice who were protesting the construction of additions to watch houses with demands of peace and democracy were shot at and according to the information we received from the media, our brother Medeni Yıldırım lost his life and many were wounded. These bullets were fired on all of us, on peace, fraternity, democracy, and our solidarity.

Against this violence and injustice which are signs of the powerful’s desperation and fear, we stand with our most simple, naked, and just selves;  with all the values and colors that make us, with unshakeable common sense, will to resist, perseverance, and extreme creativity, we continue to stand together in all places where life exists. We have not and will never give up on our demands and our gains.

We once again remind those who want us to forget and those who have not yet heard; we strongly and immediately demand that:

• Any ban or physical restriction on meetings, gatherings or demonstrations affecting Taksim and Kizilay squares, as well as all other squares and public areas as well as restrictions on the right to free speech be lifted.
• All those responsible for commanding, enforcing and perpetrating the repression of the democratic rights of the people to demonstrate, starting with those who stood up to the destruction of Taksim Gezi Park, and the violent crackdown that followed resulting in the injury of thousands, and five deaths should be unseated and brought to justice, starting with the governors and Police chiefs of İstanbul, Ankara, Hatay and Adana.
• The use of agents such as tear-gas be prohibited.
• That those who have been taken into custody due to their participation in the protests across the country be immediately released and that an official statement be made to state that they will not be charged.
• That parks where we gather in moments of disaster be opened to the public immediately, starting with Gezi Park.

We are calling out from all corners of our country, from squares, parks, homes, associations, business chambers, syndicates, parties, from all places where the heart beats for Gezi, from Taksim square.

We stand together in all aspects of life, with all our values and our colours, our unshakeable common sense and strength to resist, our resolve and limitless creativity. We, Taksim Solidarity, still have not received a response to the demands that we addressed to the government. Furthermore, those who continue to voice our demands are being silenced by violence, detainment, and arrest. Despite all these pressures, we continue to shout.
We once again remind those who want us to forget and those who have not yet heard; we strongly and immediately demand that:

Those to whom our demands are addressed should know that until our demands are met and until the crimes against humanity that you have committed in front of the eyes of the world are accounted for, for years you will not escape from the youth, the women, the homosexual, bisexual and transsexual groups, the democratic organisations, the trade and professional organisations, the political parties, the non-governmental organisations and the groups of fans who cry in the streets for these demands.

In these raids that contravene universal law, hundreds of our friends have been taken into custody, dozens have been arrested, and the whereabouts of some remain unknown. We will continue to do all we can to ensure that the legal and humanitarian needs are met for our friends, with whom we stood together in resistance, who have been arrested or taken into custody, whose fate is unknown, and who are being treated in hospital; visits from our groups in order to show our support will also continue.

As part of the most peaceful and environmental resistance movement in the history of Turkey, our friends Abdullah CÖMERT, Mehmet AYVALITAŞ and Ethem SARISÜLÜK took to the streets in search of their rights, demanding a world with more equality, freedom and solidarity; they were to become the victims of a savagery, hate and violence not even seen in times of war. We bow down in respect to the memory of these souls that were torn from us in the prime of their lives. Their honourable and determined stance will forever illuminate our struggle and continue to light our path. WE WILL NOT FORGET, WE WILL NOT LET THIS BE FORGOTTEN!

The most important thing that we, Taksim Solidarity, have learnt during this process is that the struggle cannot be limited by time and space; from now on our struggle will continue in every inch of our city and our country and at every moment of our lives.

Against all the suppression, our song of freedom we created in the heaven of solidarity and democracy in Taksim Square and in the Gezi Park pervaded to the entire world.

Forums that emerged in all the corners of our country, in every park and in every square represent our common will; they have become the lanterns brighten the path of democracy, peace and solidarity in utter darkness.

We say it once again; with all the colors that make us who we are, with unwavering common sense, endurance, determination and incredible creativity, we are still together in every sphere of life.

We are calling out from all across the country, from squares, parks, our homes, our rooms, unions, parties and wherever else we may be.

We stand together in all aspects of life, with all our values and our colors, our unshakeable common sense and strength to resist, our resolve and incredible creativity. We have not given up on our demands nor the things we’ve achieved so far.

For those who would like to forget, or those who have still not heard, let us remind them of our demands once more:

• Any ban or physical restriction on meetings, gatherings or demonstrations effecting Taksim and Kizilay squares, as well as all other squares and public areas as well as restrictions on the right to free speech be lifted.
• All those responsible for commanding, enforcing and perpetrating the repression of the democratic rights of the people to demonstrate, starting with those who stood up to the destruction of Taksim Gezi Park, and the violent crack down that followed resulting in the injury of thousands, and five deaths should be unseated and brought to justice, starting with the governors and Police chiefs of İstanbul, Ankara, Hatay and Adana.
• The use of agents such as tear-gas be prohibited.
• That those who have been taken into custody due to their participation in the protests across the country be immediately released and that an official statement be made to state that they will not be charged.
• That parks where we gather in moments of disaster be opened to the public immediately.

Those who occupy official positions on our behalf should know that they will not be able to ignore these demands, nor avoid being held accountable for the violence and crimes against humanity perpetrated in plain sight of the whole world by targeting political groups, football fans or individuals. These demands are no longer just ours, they are embraced by people around the world.

Hundreds of our friends have been detained in raids into homes, in complete disregard of universal law. Our constituents have been visiting and will continue to visit those who are under medical attention or those who need legal or humanitarian aid.

Thousands are under medical attention in hospitals because of the cruel, lawless, senseless and remorseless violence perpetrated. In recent days, random bag searches by security forces have led to the confiscation of simple dust masks and goggles people have been carrying around to protect their health and bodily integrity, their lives. In some instances the possession of these materials have been grounds for detainment. This random implementation endangers the most basic rights, the right to life, and bodily integrity. This implementation should be ceased immediately, and legal investigation into those who have carried it our so far should be undertaken.

We are currently gathering at our parks where we would meet in a case of natural disaster such as earthquakes, at 9pm in order to come together against this arbitrary and indiscriminate violence, the source and trigger of which remains unclear. We are addressing the wounds of our country and making peace….

Those who try to break us, scare us, and divide us into being lonely should know, none of us are alone. On the streets, on the road, at work, in the squares and neighborhoods we stand together in support of each other, trying to understand each other.
